Monterey splash

This is about 10x10.5 inch watercolor done on 140lb Canson cold press. It is a part of this weekend drawing event on Wetcanvas. Monterey aquarium is an amazing place. I visited there once in 1994, while they had their renovation. Nowadays, it must be even more awesome. I hope to get to take my kids there down the road.

The Hills Are Alive ...

This is a tulip farm in British Columbia, Canada. The Ref. photo was from Sharrm on Wetcanvas. This is a 8x11 inch watercolor on 200 grams Thai local paper using W&N paints. Happy spring time everyone, wherever you are !!!

Tropical Wonder

Yeah... I did it, weeks after weeks of saving reference photos from Wetcanvas, Weekend Drawing Event I have always ran out of steam to do a painting but today I did this.
Thanks AlainJ for wonderful ref. photo. This one was done in W&N watercolor on 11x14 inch Bockingford 140 lb block.

Mushroom

This is about 11x14 inch watercolor from recent Wetcanvas WDE event. I normally don't do WC this way but it is fun to try to play more with brush stroke sometimes.

Baby in bloom...

Well... to embrace my new coming baby, this is a 5x7 inch Derwent pastel pencils on my brown sketchbook. The photo ref. is from Wetcanvas WDE in mid September.

Clay pots

This is about 6x8.5 inch watercolor from Wetcanvas's Weekend Drawing Event on Aug 28th. It feels so good to paint again after almost a month of absence. So many things are going on in my life.

Sascha

This is the granddaughter of my artist friend, named Sascha, from Weekend Drawing Event. This is 3x5 inch color pencils on Thai local notepad.

Let loose Geraniums

This is a part of Weekend Drawing Event (WDE) on Wetcanvas. I try to be more loose in the 2nd attempt of the day. Iris, my daughter, intercepted me while I just started and demanded that she painted too. So I ended up doing a challenge by painting with my daughter. I tried to point her to corresponding spot in the ref. photo to the colors that I just mixed and I later hold her hand painting. She seemed to take it pretty well. At the end we were both happy painting. I like the result for its looseness. This took about 40 minutes and done on a giant sketch book 11x13.5 inch. Previously I use the top right corner of this sketch page for testing some color pencils.

The Scorpion

He is from the Thai mountain jungle. I saw him coming out to taste the morning dew in the mid of the mountain road in Lumpang province, north of Thailand. I put him as one of the Ref. photo for the Weekend Drawing Event this week on Wetcanvas. So I have to give him a try.

It is about 10.5x15 inch OP. I am still struggle with OP but I am sure the more I do it the better I learn about this medium. In this piece originally I mess up the top left background by adding a bright orange in a big blob that does not add anything to the whole. So I crop my painting a lot more out on the left. and here it is. Who would have thought that a "flower" lady like me is doing a piece of a scorpion.

Thai fruit tree flower -- Chom-Pu

This is a bit of a challenge for me in oil pastel, which is not the medium I am most familiar with. This is about 10.5x15 inch, done in 1.5 hours. It is too bad that this tree may bloom only 3 days of the year. I was glad I get to capture its opera color in full bloom and get to paint this.

Feeling French !!!

Beach Gossip

This is a watercolor 4.5x10.5 inch done from a Weekend Drawing Event on Wetcanvas. I am glad I have some art energy back after a few days feeling under the weather and exhaustion from work.

Princess Karmela

I can't take my eyes of this little princess. She belongs to a Wetcanvas member. Her photo was used as a referenced photo of this Weekend Drawing Event on Wetcanvas. So here it is a 9x12 inch, mixed media watercolor soft pastel with a few tads of gouache. I had a great fun doing this.

Valentine Moo Moo and Gladiolas

I have fun painting on my Friday night doing a few painting from Wetcanvas WDE photos

Here is the first one, my Moo Moo. This is an 8x10 inch watercolor. I feel a bit frustrate with this one... trying to have more control.



My second one is gladiolas, a watercolor, wet-in-wet technique, 4.5x5.5 inch. I am much relax painting this one, because I just let the paints mingles and waiting for happy accidents.

Dancer#2

This is a continued work from WDE photo by Crisper2005. It is about 5x7 inch in gouache on brown paper bag sketchbook. It is fun to do these can-can ladies.

Can-Can Dancer

This is about 6.5x10.5 inch oil pastel done for WDE on Jan 17 project on Wetcanvas. I did it in 1 hour and 10 minutes. I have a lot to learn in oil pastel. I am happy that she does not look too much kindergarten art. What do you think?

Dutch chickens

This is about 11 x15 inch using Conte crayon, done as a part of WDE project on Wetcanvas hosted by Connie. I feel a great satisfaction after finishing this one, especially after I did the bottom chicken, I felt "I get it" in doing hard pastel/Conte work. It felt free and fun and I let it loose.


I'd been painting and sketching by the storm (after the two depressive weeks in late Nov.) but some of the small paintings are for art exchanges so I cannot post them yet here until they arrive at desination. Now I am glad to be back to my creative self.
